Concrete, Paver and Step Cleaning in Glens Falls

We wash the hard surfaces around the outside of your house: concrete walkways, driveways, paver patios, stone steps and the pad by the garage. Grime, green growth and leftover road salt lift off, the surface dries quicker, and the steps give better footing.

What cleaning your walks and drive does for you

Concrete and pavers are porous. They soak up rain, pollen, leaf tannins and the salt and sand tracked in all winter. In shady spots that mix feeds algae and moss, and by late spring a walkway can turn green and slippery.

We use a rotary cleaner. It spins the spray under a hood, so water hits the concrete evenly instead of carving stripes. We set the pressure for the material. Stamped or sealed concrete, old brick and soft stone get a lighter touch than a plain broom-finish slab.

There is a practical payoff if you have our permanent lighting or path lights. Clean, light-colored concrete reflects more of that light back up, so many people can run their app-controlled lights at a lower brightness and still see every step. Over a long winter evening that adds up to less power used.

What the work includes

  1. 01

    Driveways and parking pads

We clean the slab edge to edge, including the apron where tire marks and salt build up. Oil spots get a pretreatment first. Old, deep stains may lighten rather than disappear, and we tell you that before we start.

  2. 02

    Walkways, steps and stoops

The rotary cleaner handles the flat runs. Risers, corners and step edges get done by hand, since those are the spots people slip on.

  3. 03

    Paver patios and joints

We clean pavers without blowing out the joint sand. If joints are already washed out or full of weeds, we point it out so you can decide what to do next.

  4. 04

    Pretreatment for growth

A cleaning solution goes on green and black growth first so it lets go at lower pressure. We wet nearby plants before and after, and steer runoff away from your beds.

  5. 05

    Rinse and cleanup

We rinse grit off the bottom of siding, doors and the lawn edge. Furniture and planters go back where they were, and hoses are coiled before we leave.

Signs your walks and drive are due

  • Green film in the shade

North-facing walks and spots under trees stay damp and grow algae. If it looks green or black, it is living growth, not just dirt.

  • Steps that get slick after rain

Growth and fine grime make concrete slippery when wet. Cleaning brings back the grip of the original finish.

  • White crust from road salt

After a Glens Falls winter, salt and sand leave a chalky film near the driveway and entry. It holds moisture and wears at the concrete if it sits.

  • Pavers that look gray and flat

Color fades under a layer of grime long before the pavers themselves wear out. A cleaning shows you what you really have.

  • Dark streaks under downspouts

Water from the gutters carries grit and stains the concrete where it lands. These streaks usually come up well.

How a cleaning day goes

  1. 1

    Free quote by phone

You call and tell us which areas need work and roughly how big they are. For larger jobs we may stop by to look. You get a written price before any work is booked.

  2. 2

    Prep the area

We move furniture and planters, cover outdoor outlets and low fixtures, and wet down plants. Path lights stay put and get protected, not pulled.

  3. 3

    Pretreat, clean and detail

Growth gets pretreated, then we run the rotary cleaner in overlapping passes. Edges, steps and corners are finished by hand.

  4. 4

    Rinse and walk-through

We rinse everything down and walk the job with you if you are home. You can walk on it right away, and it dries in a few hours.

What sets the price

Every price is based on your walks, drive and patio, not a flat rate. Two driveways the same size can need very different work. We give you the number in writing so you know what is included before we start.

Square footage
More area means more time with the rotary cleaner. A small stoop and walk is a short job; a long driveway plus a patio takes most of a day.
Material and finish
Plain concrete is the quickest. Pavers, brick and stamped or sealed finishes need lower pressure and more care, which takes longer.
How much growth and staining
Heavy moss, thick algae and oil spots need pretreatment and extra passes. Light grime does not.
Access and water
Steps, tight side yards and areas far from a spigot add setup time. We ask about this on the call.
Pairing with other work
If we are already at your home for roof treatments or a permanent lighting install, doing your walks and drive the same visit saves a second setup.

Questions about concrete and paver cleaning

Will this damage my concrete or pavers?

Not when pressure is set for the material, which is why we check it first. Soft or crumbling spots get a gentler pass. If something is already loose or cracked, we show you before we clean it.

Can you get oil and rust stains out?

Fresh oil and light rust often come out most of the way. Stains that have soaked in for years usually lighten but may not vanish. We say which is which when we look at it.

How long until the green comes back?

It depends on shade and drainage. Sunny walks can stay clean for a couple of years, while damp spots under trees may need attention sooner. Trimming back branches and fixing a downspout that dumps on the walk both help.

Do I need to be home?

No. We need access to an outdoor spigot and any gates. Most people like to do the walk-through at the end, but if you are out we can go over what we found by phone afterward.

Who does the work, and is it covered?

Our own crew does it, the same people who handle our other exterior work. The business is licensed and insured, so your property is covered while we are on it. After 5 years in business, we know how local concrete and pavers hold up and how much they can take.

When is the best time of year?

Spring is popular because it clears off the winter salt and sand. Late summer and early fall work well too, so steps start the cold season clean and less slick.
